Jocky
Head Coach, Child Protection Officer
I’m the founder of the Brechin Community Boxing Club 2019. The first club in over 30 years.
It started as an idea 3 years ago and is developing into a successful club. With the support from the community and sponsors this has enabled me with the help of the committee to turn it from a run down old church into much needed life again.
I started Judo at the age of 8 years old going onto win Scottish championships and regional championships around the uk from bronze to gold . At my later teens I decided to try kickboxing and loved the sport , where I developed my boxing skills and knowledge as a competition fighter. In my later 20s I wanted to do Taekwondo and through immense training had a thirst for knowledge to develop different fighting skills and this led me on to do more competitions and win more medals.
In 2017 while training to be a barber I started up boxing again for keeping up my fitness. I decided then that Brechin needed something like a boxing club just like there used to be one when my uncle Tommy run the old boxing club with a few other locals from the community many years ago.
This is where my journey of planning began and the rest is still happening to this day . I have over 30 years experience in mixed martial arts.
In 2019 I was diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar. This enables me to support both physical and mental health within the club for our volunteers and our members.
